FAQs

It is not recommended to apply enamel on plastic, unless the surface has been prepared using an appropriate primer that promotes adhesion to plastic.
Always refer to the instructions on the paint can and also refer the technical datasheet of the product for recoating intervals. It can vary from product to product.
In case the door is being painted using a clear lacquer, like PU or Melamine, we would recommend use of a brush for the application. In case the substrate is being painted using a PU Super Gloss enamel, a foam roller or a brush can be used.

PU stands for Polyurethane. Indigo PU Super gloss enamel is a rich gloss polyurethane-based enamel with a quick drying & non-yellowing resin system. It is designed for use over wood and metal.

A unique advantage of PU super gloss enamel paint is that it can dry quickly when exposed to air, as opposed to alkyd-based enamels that are commonly found in the market. Also, PU enamels have better non-yellowing properties when compared to ordinary enamels.
Yes, you can technically use water-based paints over enamels. The surface will however need to be prepared by cleaning and sanding and a solvent based primer, like Indigo Universal Primer must be applied to promote adhesion. Then the surface is ready to take on the water-based paint.
Enamel paint for walls might sound like an odd combination, but on the contrary to what you might think, enamel paints can be a good option for not just wood or metal surfaces but also walls. Since enamel paints are resistant to excessive moisture, it also works well if you use it on surfaces that need to be cleaned multiple times. However, one must note that enamels are non-breathable systems and hence any leak within the wall will easily lead to paint failure.
Like all paint systems, the life depends on the quality of paint used, the system of application and the exposure levels. For interior applications enamels tend to last for 4 to 6 years under normal conditions, while under exposed conditions the life varies between 3 to 5 years.
Epoxy paint is more heavy duty compared to Alkyd based Enamel. Epoxy based coatings will give hard & abrasion resistant film with higher chemical resistance. Epoxy Paint is suited for application where higher corrosion resistance, wear & tear resistance is desired. Enamels are for general purpose application in less demanding environment. Single pack epoxies however will need to be overcoated using an appropriate topcoat when exposed to extreme outdoor conditions.
Yes, Indigo PU Super gloss enamel is a highly washable paint.
